The runaway success of Bill Haley and the Comets following the usage of their Rock Around the Clock" in a key sequence of the 1955 juvenile-delinquent film The Blackboard Jungle was a clear sign that R&B and C&W (Haley's Comets had been a former C&W band recording R&B tunes in a mode resembling Louis Jordan's) weren't going to stay ghettoized from the pop-music mainstream for much longer.
